Institute of Buddhism

Every day, the whole Tipiṭaka: research across the Pāli, Sanskrit, and Chinese canons, published as it is found.

Daily briefs. Weekly research notes. Full scholarly translations of texts that have never existed in English. Every claim checked against the source corpora before it is published — and everything free to the patrons who make it possible.

What the work produces

Three cadences, one pipeline. Each feeds the next.

The Daily Brief

every morning

One verified finding: a parallel traced across three canons, a word's stratum dated, a simile followed from India to China — with the actual passages quoted and cited.

The Research Note

every week

A finding argued properly: evidence, counter-evidence, and a method appendix showing exactly how the result was obtained, so anyone can check it.

The Books

every four to six weeks

Complete scholarly editions from Theravada Tipitaka Press — first English translations, with full apparatus. Free as ebooks to patrons; in print for the world.

How we work

The method is the product. It is published alongside every result.

The Institute runs a research engine of many hands: mechanical tools that search the complete Pāli, Sanskrit, and Chinese canons on disk; fast models that sweep them for candidate parallels and readings; a frontier model that weighs, translates, and writes; and a human editor who sets the standard and signs the books.

The engine may propose; only the sources may confirm. No passage is cited that has not been mechanically located in the corpus it is claimed to come from.

Every draft passes a panel of adversarial readers built on different systems — one re-verifies each citation cold, one guards the Buddhist register, one reads as a beginner — before a human sees it. Every error caught, by reader or panel, becomes a permanent automated check. Corrections are published, never buried.

This is the same method that produced the works below.

Ten dollars a month keeps the engine reading every single day.

You fund the work; we turn every dollar into the most beautiful, deep, and rigorous Buddhist literature being made — and give all of it to you: every brief, every research note, every book as it is published.

The Institute ran its first month before asking anyone for anything. The ledger of what was produced, and what it cost, is public.
